Like it has been said here, there's a possibility that you might have picked the wrong channel and/or putted in the cables into the wrong ports.

Do a few step.

1. Make sure the TV is set to the right channel.

If you're playing to use the ports of channel AV1, use that channel. If you're playing to use the ports of channel AV2, use that channel. And so on.

2. Put the video cable into the video port.

Make sure it's the yellow one, since it's the video one. Make sure it is at the correct port.

If you use composite video, then it's the red, green, and blue ones. Make sure they are at the correct ports.

3. Check if you got picture.

If it worked, then continue on putting the sound cables.

If it didn't worked, continue trying. Ask a video expert if it still didn't worked. If it even still can't work, check both your TV and Wii to their experts.

Is it on the wrong channel. All tv's work diffrent. My living room tv is so old it only has 4 buttons that still work and plays anything with an AV adaptor on channel 91. The stuff with the one thick cable on channel 3 or 4 and music on channel 90. Most newer tv's have a tv/video button that you can press. If your tv is new try it and wait a few seconds before pressing it again. How is your Wii plugged in to the television. Are the cables in the in/out slots? If all else fails pray.

Check your cables. Sounds like it's turning on, but the cables going to the TV may not be plugged in right.

Make sure all the wires are on it or they are put in a right order. If the problem continues then its that its arrival was a few weeks ago so the system is not complete or that perfect.

there should be a yellow, white, and red ends on the cable. Those go in the respectively colored ports on the tv. If all the ports on the tv are the same color than it should go left to right yellow, white, red.
