Can a father or mother do that to their own child.... burn him to eternal pain.. just because the child disobeyed him/her?

What no hell? Only forgiveness? How bout the rapists, murderers who does not repent? Where will they go?

Hell just a concept? Just a dogma? Well it's written in the bible. If hell is not true, can we say the same for heaven?

Hell does not go on forever. Hell is designed to DESTROY the wicked. God is going to make an end to sin by DESTROYING sinners

There are 2 texts that people bring up to support eternal suffering
Eternal Fire
Unquenchable Fire

I will talk about these two texts a little later but first I will talk about what hell is really like.

When does Hell burn?
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the END OF THE WORLD; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the END OF THE WORLD. Matthew 13:24-43
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust UNTO the day of judgment to be punished:
2 Peter 2:9

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2 Peter 3:7

Hell fire burns at the end of the world

Where does Hell burn?

Revelation 20 says that the New Jerusalem descends from Heaven and lands on the Mt. of Olives. The wicked surround the city and God rains down fire on them. Hell fire burns on the earth.

"Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes UPON THE EARTH in the sight of all them that behold thee" Ezek. 28:16, 18

Now for the 2 misunderstood texts.

Eternal Fire
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of ETERNAL fire. Jude 7

Sodom and Gomorrah are not still burning but the result of the fire is eternal

Unquenchable Fire

But if you do not obey me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an UNQUENCHABLE fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.' "
Jeremiah 17:27

And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: To fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfill threescore and ten years.
2 Chronicles 36:19-21
God said that Jerusalem would burn with unquenchable fire yet the fire did go out. It was unquenchable because it burned and burned but no one quenched the fire it went out when there was nothing left to burn.

What did God say
And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Genesis 3:22,24

God does not want sin or sinners to last forever if they suffer forever then wouldn’t that go against His plan

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever" (Ps. 92:7). Wickeddestroyed

"The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy" (Ps. 145:20). Wickeddestroyed

"I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire" (Ezek. 28:16). Satandestroyed

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat" (Mat. 7:13) wickeddestroyed

"Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee" (Ezek. 28:16, 18). SatanAshes

"Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things," says the LORD Almighty. Malachi 4:1-3 ashes

Wages of sin is DEATH but the gift of God is eternal Life Romans 6:23
God gives eternal life to the saved the sinners die

For God so loved the world that whosoever believeth in Him shall not PERISH but Have eternal life John 3:16
The wicked perish and only the saved are given eternal life.

God told Adam and Eve that if the ate the fruit they would die the Devil said “you won’t “really” die”

Psalms 104: 35

But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalms 37: 38

But the transgressors shall be DESTROYED together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalms 37: 38

For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
Psalms 37: 10

Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
Psalms 37: 36

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to DESTROY both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10: 28

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Ezekiel 18:4

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
1 John 3:15

If you were God and you wanted to tell people the wicked would no longer exist what word(s) would you use

How does God describe the sinners’ state of being
Destroyed
Perish
Die
Death
Ashes
Consumed
Burned up
Cut off
They end
Shall not be
Could not be found

For about the first 24 minutes they answer other Bible questions then they talk about Hell

2006-12-20 04:00:51 · answer #1 · answered by Conundrum 4 · 0 0

He doesn't..... You're only going to burn eternally in Hell if you aren't a child of God's. If you have asked for forgiveness and let Him into your heart then there is NOTHING you could ever do that would make you wind up in Hell. Once saved, always saved. If you've disobeyed God, simply ask for forgiveness, He will give it to you.

What?
You have left out forgivness.

Hello is very much a version of pagon ideas. Many who study the bible say that hello is when a person is seperated from God.
To, say the least our understanding of God & what will actually happen in the after life is very limited.

Disobediience isn't as life ending as you think. Humans make mistakes and disobey. If God is as damning as you think, there is little chance for any of us.

What about second, third chances....what about forgivness. What about forgivness?

Your question goes from God condeming us to parents punishing their child. You question isn't specific enough.

God has set forth some pretty easy commandments to follow and then according to MAN set forth punishment for NOT following them. One should ask do you really believe a loving Father who created all had condemned His creation that he created out of His own image and likeness would condemn us to a neverending blackness of nothingness.

But.........there is something worth pondering, if you are so deem to do so, eternity is NOT some place we will go to...we are in eternity right now, so, are we living and learning our way out of our own hell, progressing forward, spirit ward or regressing backwards into the black holes of our own choices to be a disobeying child.

No, that is called Child Abuse! A child can be disciplined for not obeying but not burned. God does not condemn us to hell for disobeying him here he wants us to repent. He doesn't want to condemn anyone but only those who are faithful, obey his commandments, & does his work here will see the glory of heaven.

If you look in James Carse's "Finite and Infinite Games," he shows the demand for obedience to be evil. This hell for disobedience thing is the comic book version of Christianity. Look at Matthew 5:45. God's open generosity makes the sun shine and the rain fall on good and bad alike. The world has everything we need, but if we overdo the sex we overpopulate it and people starve. If we don't watch our step we stub our toe and that hurts. That's more than enough hell -- just the consequences of mistakes. Folks who use fear of hell to bring people to God don't make children of God but rather uptight zealots. Modern day Pharisees.

don't think about it as if there is no hope. he tests you to see how far you will go to avoid believing the fact that he died for your sins. he wants you to see great pain and let you know that there is a heaven. What is peace without first experiancing pain? What is Heaven without a hell? He wants us to ASK FOR FORGIVNESS! THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT! NO ONE is perfect besides God. He HAS to forgive you to give you a better life, but you have to make the choice to believe that he would save you from that place called hell.

Most Christian Theologians that support the idea of 'free will' tend to explain it thus: that Divine Justice is a manifestation of true love and that the treason of denouncing God and His laws (the commandments, etc.) warrants the deprivation of His Grace; however, God allows for the guilty to win themselves back into a state of Grace by means of repentance. (Various sects of Christianity explain repentance differently. There have been centuries of debates on faith and/or good works as venues of reconciliation).
It is this 'Mercy' that best demonstrates God's 'love' as a caring creator.

Reality is, when you boil it all down, what is. God sees reality a whole lot better and more accurately than we do. According to the Bible, Satan got power over us when Adam sinned. God gave us the Law so that by trying to obey it, we would discover that we cannot obey it perfectly. You break the law, you get punished. The Lake of Fire is the punishment. So God sent his son to take the punishment for us, in our stead. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him has everlasting life and shall not perish. So it is more like a drowning man, deciding to take or not take the life preserver. Only a fool would prefer to drown.

God doesn't want to condemn us to hell, he wants us to live in heaven with him when we die. He gives us the opportunities to learn about Him and accept Him, but when we don't take our chance that it disobeying His word. Therefore, you will go to hell. But if you have not heard about Jesus or salvation then you cannot be held accountable for not accepting Jesus as savior and you will not go to hell.
