I always thought the Hair Bands were more about their look than their music. The British guys were the more intense and creative musicians, and relied more on their sound than hair.
No disrespect to the Crue or Ratt, but I always liked Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, UFO, Motorhead, Michael Schenker Group, Scorpions, and Uli Jon Roth.....and still do.

Wow this is the tough question to answer, cause i like them both. Here my opinion :
Hair metal is a good music in genre of metal music, but what they offer to all us are seem so simple, their music seem too "easy listening" metal music. Even i love them it very much. Their music is so simple, they dressed are so special, their artwork are so specific. If i do dig their music deeply, i can get boring soon, i am not saying that their skill are no good enough or something like that, but they sometime make the same sound each other. So if we hear one band then the other it seem so the same.
But british style is different, their music are so amazing to hear again and again, if we dig deep to their music then we can't find the ending of their music, they are so complex. They got something that no other metal music have it, the unique metal sound. They can give you the heaviness, speedy metal music and complex metal music in the same time, but the music is so very nice for us to enjoy. The bands like what you said, and also the other like Jaguar, saxon, elixir, marshall law, satan etc are really really genius stuff to listen.
So i prefer to choose british style is better.
Hail to you to love them also. Keep the BRITISH STEEL screamin'

i like metallic from all time classes. whilst Iron Maiden and dark Angel have been kicking *** interior the 80s, the posers have been listening to crappy hair metallic. comparable subject in the present day; the stable metallic is underground the place it belongs and the fool babies hear to Slipknot and Korn and think of it particularly is metallic. Underground metallic is prospering. people who like it, understand the place to locate it. there remains numerous great loss of existence and black metallic bands around.

In the 80s, I was a fetus, then a baby. So I don't think I'd be able to help you much. But I like Bon Jovi's old stuff.
