You can either pay another way- or they will recalc it and take it out of your disability pay until you go back to work.

If you were working full time, you will get disability insurance. Look at your check stub, do you see SDI deduction? If so, you can collect disability insurance, which is higher than unemployment. You will be behind with your child support payments until you return to work. Are you under a court order to pay or is this an amount that the two of you agreed to. If your ex is counting on the $600 to pay her rent, child care, etc. she can apply for county aid if you are going to be off work for several months.

I agree with all your respondents who recommend you go to some legal source to get your child support payments adjusted according to you situation, BUT, I will tell you that Social Security may not be the answer because I was run over by a train at work and lost my right leg above the knee and drug down the track 187 feet, and Social Security says I'm NOT disabled because I have too much college education, and, in their words, "you had a 'sit-down job' before the accident and you can do a 'sit-down job' now". If you can believe that, that's what you've been paying part of your paycheck into for God-knows-how-long. But, when I was out of a job years ago and had child support payments, I just went to my lawyer and he worked with her lawyer and we agreed on some payment, even suspending payments for a while till I got another job, which I did, and resumed payments, and some "back payments". Do take care of it. There's too many people out there foaming at the mouth and drueling just to get at the man's money, no matter what his circumstances, so, take care of yourself. There are truly a bunch of rabid dogs out there willing to burn you at the stake if they can't get money out of you. God Bless you.

You should be able to collect disability from Social Security. If you do, then your children also get a check, and that will be deemed as Child Support. You need to file for a modification with the Child Support Enforcement agency in your town, and also go to your local Social Security office. Good luck!

Go to family court ASAP and file a petition to modify the child support order. It will retro to the date you filed a patition. If you wait you will go furthrt in arrears.

have you reported it. If you report it the will adjust the amount of your child support. I would do this quickly before you get reported for non payment. Then things will be a lot worse.
