I don't like the GC controllers that come with it.They are way too squared off and akward. I like the 3rd party controllers better, like Madcatz or Pelican. The rubber grips are usually nice for sweaty hands, since they dont slide, and they seem to last much longer, at least in my house. lol The original ones have been cracked in half after an annoying kill by a boss!
If you mean as far as the placements of the buttons, they all seem ok to me. As with any system it takes a few different games to get used to the placements. PS (1,2 or 3, since it's the same design) is still is the best overall design, especially if you can find a 3rd party controller with the R2/L2 buttons moved down. Nothing can be considered horrible unless you've ever tried to play games for hours on the N64!!! THAT was the worst!!!!
I hope this helps!

like very new controller it gets some getting use to. If you have ever played with that poor excuse for a controlelr for the original X-Box you can definitely handle the GameCube controller.

Oh yes, it is quite comfortable. Very well made.
Even the wavebird wireless ones are comfortable.
(Edit: But the 3rd part controllers like madcatz and pelican vary in quality.)

Yes, you just need to get used to it if you're already used to PS2 or XBOX controllers.
