To remove the paint, first know what type of paint it is. What I mean by that is it a water based, or an oil based paint this will help in the clean up of the spill. A water based paint will clean up with water, where oil based paint will need a cleaner like mineral spirits, lacquer thinner,or enamel reducer. But be careful with the cleaning agents in an in closed area, and for the carpet discolouring. May try a carpet cleaning service first. JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.

If the paint is waterbase you can clean it up with water but make sure you dab the spots of paint and not rub it into the carpet. If the paint is oil based then try spirits of turpentine. My husband even tried paint thinner and this was white carpet. I thought he would mess it up but it came out clean and beautiful! This he had to use a scrubbing motion with clean rags.

If its gone hard, its an insurance job.
For a water-based emulsion simply wash/scrub carpet (with a proper carpet shampoo, not washing up liquid) then rinse and wet vac
For an oil based ('clean brushes in turps' on the can) use an alkeline degreaser or paint brush restorer, this will 'convert' the paint to water soluble, then treat as water based.

I did the comparable ingredient with army blue paint, on an egg shell colour carpet. I grabbed a bottle of Oxy sparkling, and used a scrub brush, and vigorously scrubbed it. Then I went over it with a steam air purifier.

If it is still wet, just warm water on a rag and repeat until it comes out (use a lot of elbow grease!!:)). If it is dried....good luck!
