I have moles, too. One raised on my left cheek, one on my right jaw, two on my forhead, one on my chin, another one that looks like a chocolate spot (my dad once tried to "wipe it off"). Also one sticky-out light brown spot on my temple.
And a few all over my body. One big one on my butt, a stick-out one between my legs, a stick-out on on my wrist, and a horrid one below my knee...it sticks out...and it's a bunch of light brown bumps with a dark brown dot in the middle. I hate it. I can't remove it because it would leave a huge scar. And then a bunch more on my legs and back and arm.
You're not alone. Think of Marylin Monroe; she had a beauty mark on her jaw.
And they're called "beauty marks" for a reason, I guess. xD

I had three moles removed about 6 months ago in three various locations. What I found is that depending where the mole was located, the scar healed differently. On the side of my neck, it's just a white smooth spot about 4mm in diameter. Near my belly button it's a red, big, nasty scar. On my chest, near the collar bone it's a pink long line. What I learned is that it depends on your skin type. Regardless of what anyone tells you, you may never, ever, know how your skin will heal. Dermatologists have lasers that can zap scars to make them less visible, but that is not done until 6 months after they're removed. Dermotologists that are truly doctors, not on-line certificate types, will have to go a certain depth beneath your skin to make sure that everything is scooped out. They will not just laser your moles off. The reason they cut deep is because they need to biopsy the growth. Regardless if you've had it all of your life, moles can become cacerous at any time.
You may want to have one removed and see how it goes. It will also help with making sure that there are no pre-cancer cells in it. More than likely it's easier to cover up a scar rather than a mole.

Personally I think something like that is attractive as it makes the person that has it unique.
Since you said that it bothers you when people look at them my advice would be to try covering them with some makeup. If that's not possible for whatever reason then you might want to talk to a dermatologist. Mole removal is probably a routine procedure that they do and lots of people probably have them removed for cosmetic reasons so there's no need to think the dermatologist wouldn't do it. I doubt there would be any noticeable scarring, or at least I doubt there would be any that couldn't be hidden with a little makeup, as long as you go with a reputable, qualified and certified dermatologist.

I also have a "cafe Latte" or a chocolate color birthmark on my face. And, was very self conscious of it growing up. I still have it, although faded. I am glad I didn't remove it. It is mine-all-mine.
It didn't hinder my career, or dating at all. Keep it! You are who you are, and be happy. The scar tissue from laser surgery could make you very sorry.

Leave them. They could be your trademark. I had one and asked a doctor about removing it and he said that the scar would be more noticable than the mole or "beauty mark".

you can laser remove them, but they'll be gross until it heals. i dont know, i mean rachel mcadams also has dots all over her face but in the notebook, you cant even tell because they edited it. you could be like an advertisement model and they could probably just edit the picture.
