My house is 1600 sq ft and they are redoing some of my eletrical. And they are charging me 10 dollars per feet(wire)(not 20...sorry) they did a little bit more than half of the house and already used about 350 feet. Everything will cost me around 5000 dollars. Is it bad or that is normal price for electrical jobs?

10$ a Foot?!?! Someones shafting you BIG time, 14/2 romex(residential wire) is about 125$ for a 250 foot roll 12/2 is about 190$ a Roll(250feet) So ya you getting ripped off I think, Homes in The area I live in are getting wired(includes it finished all outlets, switchs etc..) is anywhere from 2.30$ a sq ft to 3.75$ a sq ft, The 2.30$ sounds like it would be closer to your range.

I have never heard of an electrical job bid out by the foot. Thats ludicris. I would call a different electrician. I am referring to home electrical work. I don't know how high tension systems are bid out.
Usually you are charged by if you are having a service put in, recepticals and switches. The price of the wire is not really a big factor. If it is new construction, where the wires are easy to install, is different that a rewire where new wire has to be pulled through walls. Regardless, being charged by the foot is crazy.

I could see if the charge was for a main entrance line to your house that was encased in a protective casing and buried underground, but if this is just to run wire in a house, than your paying way to much... 2 odd wire is big enough to supply a large house with a 250amp rating... That wire only costs about 4-6 dollars a foot... Basic interior wiring runs anywhere from 60cents to 2 dollars a foot...

You need to supply more info. I have never heard of a 'per foot' charge and I have been a General Contractor for 20 years. A wiring job is done by 'per box' charge with a ratio to per square foot of the house. No mater if it is a rewire or new service. It sounds like you have either been ripped off or you are using someone that would scare me if I were going to sleep in that house!
Please resubmit with more info and we'll see what we can tell you.
Good Luck!

i knew that copper was high but that seems high.
again in defence of the job, it is hard to rewire a house when someone is already living in it. running the lines behind closed walls and ceilings is difficult. remodeling is always more costly. u probably should have gotten a couple of bid prior to the work starting.
