I wouldn't do anything tonight. Tomorrow I would call your vet if you want to save your rat. You can also go to a feed store and buy Penicillin with syringes and a small needle, start giving 1cc of Penicillin injections under the skin a day. Good luck!

I have 5 rats.
I had bought a female fancy rat from Petsmart about a year and a half ago. About 2 months ago I noticed a small lump on her stomach. I took her to the vet and she said that she could do surgery to remove the tumor, but the rat would most likely die after the surgery because they have such fragile bodies and the lump was so big. I spoiled her and fed her everything until she passed away. There was really nothing that I could do.
The only thing that you can do is continue to monitor your rat to see if you can locate the hole where the puss is oozing out. Once you find it, have someone hold your rat by the scruff of the neck (as if you were holding a very mean cat to give it a bath) and squeeze the puss out of the area (make sure that you have washed your hands before doing this to prevent further infection).

Is your rat male or female? If its a boy, it might not be pus, male rats pleasure themselves the same way as men do with the same result. If its fairly solid, white and not smelly chances are its the above. Pus is very smelly, reddish brown colour and quite runny. If it is that, you need to get the rat to a vet asap. If their is an abcess or injury around that area it can cause major problems if left untreated. Until you get to the vets, I would wash the area with warm water and use a warm compress on the area to draw out any more pus.

An abscess is a localized collection of pus in any part of the body that is surrounded by swelling (inflammation). Abscesses in the skin can be easily seen, and are red, raised, and painful. Abscesses in other areas of the body may not be obvious, but if they may cause significant organ damage.
Are you sure he is urinating the pus? It could be coming from the rectum.
If your rat is female, it could be on the sides of the vaginal opening.
Either way, the treatment requires antibiotics, so keep looking for a 24 hr emergency animal hospital, and hope they accept small animals.

I'm not much into rats but any abcess would benefit with warm compresses. Also, make sure it is srinking. If you've ever had it on antibiotics or any pain meds you may want to try that for now if you have anything there. Sorry, that is all I can suggest. Warm compresses will make it feel better and maybe allow th infection to come out. Do it as much as allowed. Good luck.

Call your vet's office. Even after hours, there will be a way to contact emergency medical help. They will be able to direct you to an animal hospital where you can take your pet after hours.

um mabye its something it ate. my advice is get a pet thats not a rat, you do know that rats carry the plauge sometimes if they come in contact witha mosquito that has it. Mabye even a mouse if you really want a small pet that craps everywhere and has no idea what its doing half the time. It could be that it has some kind of pimple in its bladder and it popped and its peeing puss. I dont think thats possible though but come to think of it, pimple pop up in unpredictable places.

Call directory assistance for your area to see if they can locate one for you. You don't want to wait because it sounds like the cat has an infection somewhere.
