It's true that Itachi's overuse of his Mangekyo Sharingan is slowly blinding him and depleting his strength and that Sasuke is growing stronger under Orochimaru's training, but what kind of lesson is there to be learned if Sasuke defeats Itachi? That you get everything you want if you betray your friends and homeland? No, if Sasuke ever does fight Itachi to the death, he won't do it alone. These are the scenarios I predict:
1) Sasuke is losing, but Naruto and maybe Sakura come to help him and they defeat Itachi together. Sasuke realizes the error of his ways and returns to Konoha.
2) Sasuke dies fighting Itachi. Naruto avenges his friend and kills Itachi (possibly with his new Rasengan).
3) Sasuke can't seem to gain the upper hand, but Naruto and maybe Sakura show up and help him defeat Itachi. Sasuke dies in battle. Naruto and Sakura mourn.
Any way ya slice it, I think Itachi will die at the hands of someone from Team 7. Hope this helps.

He's probably on his way there. I mean Itachi's having problems with his eyes and Sasuke can only get stronger, plus Itachi hiself kinda wants Sasuke to grow strong enough to defeat him. He might not kill Itachi, but he will defeat him (maybe with the help of Naruto?).

Yes in an interview Masashi Kishimoto said there comes a point in the manga where Itachi becomes afraid of Sasuke and Sasuke gets so powerful that he feels he doesn't need Orochimaru anymore and kills him!

Maybe, maybe not. That is one of the reasons why I like the anime Naruto. Not everything is predictable, you could always expect twists of events in the series.
I'd like to think that Sasuke would realize that power is not what he really needed the most. Then he and his teammates would work together to defeat his brother.
But I do hope that Masashi-san would do something not everyone would expect...

Itachi is way stronger than him right now... and Sasuke is just weak... he'll eventually defeat him one day... later on.

He has to. Think about it, he's a major character, he's the main character's best friend, he has his gay pedophile master to help him, and well, Itachi's a major villain. But I hope he never can.
