Healthy snacks... raisins, nuts, whole wheat crackers (which can also keep you "regular" which is a big help near the end of pregnancy and afterwards when you don't want to have to strain to go the bathroom.. You can also prepare casserole dishes ahead of time and put them in the freezer for you and hubby to have after you get home from the hospital when you for sure will not have the energy or time for cooking. Good luck and best wishes!

Check with your hospital's maternity ward or your Dr. first because usually once you're at the hospital they don't allow you to eat until after the baby is born (one good reason to try to labor at home for as long as possible). You can eat and drink all you want!!
Once you get home you'll definitely want something healthy and mindless that you can grab out of the fridge and stuff in your mouth while you're so busy and focused on the baby that you'll likely skip meals and not even care. My favs were chicken salad in wheat pita pockets, carrot sticks and ranch veggie dip, apples and oranges and bananas, and bagels with cream cheese. They were quick, easy to throw together, and healthy enough.

Talk to your caregiver ahead of time about eating in labor. You REALLY want them to allow you some food in labor. It's like running a marathon.....you need some food for energy! Most midwives INSIST that you eat during labor. In the past, doctors have said it was a no-no due to the risk of aspiration if you have to be sedated for a c/s. The odds of that happening are pretty slim. Eat lightly - toast, jello, Gatorade, grapes, energy bars, peanut butter and crackers, clear broths, popsicles, etc.
