i have a few topics to choose from the short answer take-home test, this option was intresting. "a fish does not know its wet" thats all it says! the directions say analyze and relate it to anthropology. does that phrase say or mean anything to you? can you elaborate or make an analogy? THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANE!

I think what the phrase means is that when you are immersed in an environment, you do not know in what you are immersed, because it surrounds you and you know nothing else. A fish would know it is dry because it would be taken out of it's comfort zone and realize how different it is elsewhere. Just as if you lived in the northeast your life and stayed there, you would not be able to tell what made you different from anyone who lived anywhere else unless you left your original environment. It is hard to identify charactaristics about yourself because you live with them, but to others who are different, they will be readily apparent. Hope this helps.

If some far away culture had a word for being immersed in air, we would not know we were this word. Being immersed in air would only be all we knew of existence.

Because of the world in which the fish lives, the concept of "wet" is one which there is no reference point.

We are sometimes so wrapped up in our little worlds, we have no concept of other ideas
