I've been having a lot of pain on my left side about 4 or 5 inches from my belly button, and about 2 or 3 inches down. It has gotten so bad that I had to sit down today. I know it isn't irragular bowel movement but its starting to worry me. What is it and what kind of doctor should I see.

It could be a lot of things - if your are in the middle of your menstrual cycle, it could be from your ovary, it could be referred pain from appendix, it could be spastic colon, is there any chance you could be pregnant???, ectopic pregnancy. It might be nothing and will pass, it could even be gas in your intestines, but there are so very many bad things that you shouldn't take a chance. All of the things I mentioned could be serious. If it continues more than another day, go see a doctor, if it gets worse, go see a doctor faster -- general practitioner or internist.

Which side is the appendix on? I know it's one side or the other...
My hubby had the same pain, and it turned out if he'd have waited a few more days, his appendix would have burst in him. He had to have it removed.
It could possibly be cramps too... I've had them on one side before. Take it easy for a day or two, and get you some mytol or some tylenol, or something like that.
Kidney infection maybe? Those really suck when they happen. I've had too many, and I know they show up, one side or the otehr (2 kidneys, 2 different sides. lol) They make those cranberry-based pills to try to ease the pain for it. Drink a TON of water, (not soda, tea or anything sweet!) since it would help you flush it out. If it's too bad, you need to make it to the docs though.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Ovarian cists aren't uncommon i'd go and see your regular doctor and if you don't have one there are health clinics that have sliding scales for your income. There's always the hospital if you don't have insurance they have to see you anyway. You'll just get a bill in the mail. But the hospital bills aren't a huge deal most people who view your credit don't care about doctor bills. Go get checked out.

Could be cysts in ovaries or uterus. Could be kidney stones as well. Go to family doctor for referrals and x-ray forms. Have it completely checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Could be a urinary tract infection, a cyst on your ovaries, or your appendix. Go to the Emergency Room NOW. You don't want to wait if you have appendicitis.
