a win is a win but the worst SEC team is better than the best of any other confrence what they should do is take each confrence champ do like a bingo type pick on each confrence champ from that you bracket it if you are truely a champion or if it is just your year you will prevail or have the honest true oppertunity

They need atleast an 8 team playoff. 8 Teams would take 3 weeks, If you started Xmas-eve and Xmas, that would be 2 games (could even use existing Bowls) each day, then New Years Eve and/or Day would be 2 games, and the championship could be played a week after just like this year (Jan. 8th) And with the time off between the end of the regular season/conference championship games, even a 16 team playoff is feasible, adding in another week to the playoff. The ratings would be a lot better for a Mid December Bowl Game between top 16 teams than TCU vs Northern Illinois will draw. They say the reason the don't want a playoff is because the bowls will lose money. But in reality they would gain ratings and sponsors which would increase money. If the current bowls hosted the playoff games I am sure they would all fare better, especially the smaller bowls. And its not like there is a shortage of Bowls. In all honesty its rediculous that over 50% (64/119)of college teams make a bowl game anyways, so it wouldn't hurt to use a few of them for a playoff system instead of pitting 2 mediocre teams to play one another (eg. Troy vs Rice).

an 8-team playoff will take 3 weeks. its just too long for the teams to be on the edge of their seats

a 4-team is only 2 weeks,... much more manageable.... but then you could have team 4 beat out #1 by a field goal in OT & then be blasted by 21 points to #2,....

BCS sucks,.... no one has ever gone to its defence enough to say its perfect. However,... no alternative is either.
I'd say that having all the final ballots open to scrutanty by the public does improve certain aspects of selection,... however... the debate will always be there every december.

*and the worst SEC teams (ie UK.... are not always better than any of the other confrences. U of L has shown that)
-had to add that, I'm at U of L and my brother & sister are at UK

I think the BCS formula should be used to determine a 16-team playoff based on won-loss record against strength of schedule. That way, even the mid and lower-tiered conferences and independents can get in as long a they play a strong enough schedule. As for the people who whine about the bowls suffering, that's complete horse crap! Use the top-paying bowls as playoff sites and allow the smaller bowls to continue on as usual. That way, the championship is decided on the field, bowls are still being played, everyone still still making money, and for the most part, everyone will be happy!
