well.. i cant really help a lot about "self-tanners" stuff... because we use the natural way.... if you visit me.. my house.. we're 5 min walk to the beach.....you can have all the tans that you want....

Ok. Best self tanner is 100% St. Tropez bronzer, you can get it in a mousse, spray or cream. It's kinda pricey, but you don't turn orange at ALL and it looks completely natural. If you apply self tanner, sit in the bath and scrub scrub scrub your skin to get rid of all the dry or dead bits. Moisturise your elbows, knees and feet so it acts like a barrier (these places have a tendency to build up with colour) and use rubber gloves to apply because your hands do become stained. Rub it into your skin like a moisturiser, making sure it's even all over. Test any fake tan on the top of your thighs or even your buttocks so if the colour isn't what you want it's easy to hide. Fake tan lotions do tend to smell though, so put it on before bed, (use old sheets and don't get it wet and try not to sweat too much) and have a shower in the morning. This get rid of the 'streaky look' and lets you see where you have missed places if you have missed places. Applying fake tan takes practise, and tanning legs is very hard if you want a natural look. Try a solarium (bad for your skin though and UV rays etc) or look into a spray tan and let the professionals do it for you. I don't know about jergens products, but I will only use St Tropez, and everyone I recommend it too uses it religiously. Hope this helped!

I have used several types of tanning lotions and the Jergens natural Glow is by far my favorite. I use the medium skin tones kind on my body. And then I used Neutrogena build a tan for face on my face. It balances out nicely and both give a little tint, but nothing obvious after the first application. I usually use it twice before anyone notices -- nice for subtlety.

My tips:
-be careful to rub it in around elbows, knees, and feet -- the thicker skin gets really dark if you don't. and don't do the bottoms of your feet
-hang out naked for 10-15 minutes before putting on clothes to keep the application even
-don't miss spots on your back!
-wash the palms of your hands, and the spaces btw your fingers so they don't turn funny colors. don't wash your entire hands or else you'll have white hands and tan arms

I used the self tanning products and the result were awful! I looked like a living-carrot! It's better to practice some outdoor sports when the sun is at its best! Try it out on your legs first, be very careful with your face, specially the eyes area.

a few of my friends have used a self tanner before and frankly, it looked too unnatural and ORANGE. yes, it's obvious. i'd prefer the natural look. and don't worry, lots of people are pale in the winter.
