Now that we have the Republican 'talking points'. Anyway that they spin the numbers, this deficit of debt and trade is the downfall of America. Countries are exposed to danger by their economies, we are borrowing more money from the Asian countries while carrying an enormous trade deficit from them. It is a formula for disaster. The greedy politicians have sold their souls to the Chinese, starting with Nixon and Kissinger and Bush is following in their footsteps. Don't believe that hogwash about the Soviet Union collapsing because of reagan, their economy collapsed, and that's where we're going. If you think your job is tough now, wait until the Chinese become boss!

Because they know these "problems" are not in fact serious. The so-called trade deficit is just a number based on imports/exports but does not take into account, for example, an American owned company in Japan selling goods to the Japanese. The national debt is lower in real dollars today than it was in the 1950's. And it's a number configured incorrectly, as every govt. outlay is considered debt, so that if the federal govt buys a new building, the cost of the building is simply added to the national debt, with no consideration given to the building being as ASSET of the federal government. Should I go on? They are not major issues because the "politicos" know they aren't real issues.

Because the vast majority of the population can't follow it. Economics doesn't incite a nationalistic fervor; terrorism, however, does. The odds that a citizen of the US will encounter global terrorism versus the odds of being affected by the national debt are not ever considered. The government likes it that way.

The trade defecit is an issue because manufacturing is predominantly overseas.

Outsourcing is a problem because of high taxes and regulation. The Fair Tax supporters talk about it all the time.

National Debt is an issue also. There are many conservatives in Congress that talk about it all the time. The liberal media does not give them the time of day.

No one wants to associate themselves with something negative, even to speak up against it. People will always vote for the person who denies reality in favour of a happy delusion, as if they could by voting change reality.
