in the bestiary for final fantasy xii there is a column marked "need" for each monster. what does that mean?

it tells you how many of the exact monster you need to kill be4 you can unlock its special information about ivalice or the kind of loot they dropped or sometime specific loots you need to acquire and sell to shop in order to get Bazaar's goods.
