I'm not looking for school credit or anything. I just need a community art class to help me unwind and relax. I would like to compare locations and prices and schedules. I'm especially interested in painting. Can you help?

I joined our local community college to take art classes. As a county resident it's $63 per credit hour so one class is $189 for 15 weeks. Compare that to a non-credit art series that lasts 3 to 4 weeks and you'll find it's cheap. Plus you'll learn it thoroughly and earn college credit. You may even qualify for gov't grants.

The only problem is college art course offerings are usually limited at night and weekend hours where non-credit courses are usually geared for night and weekends.

By the way, it will help to take a drawing course before painting but it's not necessary if you have some drawing skill.

Check into a community or junior college close by. You can check the classifieds in the local paper too. Might find a listing there. Good Luck.

Most cities have recreation guides which list everything you're looking for. Just check the web for your particular city, or check the community center, they tend to have the same deal. Or possibly local art galleries. I hope this helps, I've had the same problem myself.
