It has come to my attention that I never hear about single dad's..Why is that? Why do we only always hear about struggling mother's and all they do. How wonderful they are? But never the single fathers? Or the men in general who take care of their families. Does the male population have little respect? Are we hated that much? Someone?

The American feminazis have done a great job of getting public attention for the causes of single mothers. There used to be a group here in Florida called D.A.D.S. (Dads Assisting DadS). I don't know if it's still in existance but they often wrote editorials to the newspaper on child custody issues, child support, anything affecting single fathers. Father's rights groups are very active in Britain. If I remember correctly, those groups have done some publicity-stunt type things to get their cause out in the open.

Judges still award custody to the mother, even if she's the one who left the marriage. Fathers rarely get custody unless the mother is grossly negligent or abusive to the child. Fathers end up paying the "ransom" (Child support) just to see the kid(s) every other weekend and alternate holidays.

I agree, it isn't fair. There are many fine fathers out there doing a good job. Not all dads are deadbeats and not all of them walked out on a marriage and children. There just needs to be more publicity (in the U.S., at least) about single fathers.

You have a very good point here. There are alot of single fathers out there struggling hard on their own to raise their children.I for one ,from the women's side agree that we tend to just assume a father would not sacrifice like we, as mothers do. Kid Rock has a great song called Single Father Part Time Mother, he says in the song when I'm not one I'm the other. You single fathers should use that as your theme song. Keep up the good work!

It must be because of numbers. A lot of single dads are just as busy as single moms.

It might be interesting to find out how much income the average single dad makes in comparison to a single mom. I suspect that women in that situation on average are worse off financially.

But, overall, probably numbers. A whole lot more single moms than single dads.

I know from experience that it's a lonely, tough job for guys too. To any guys who are toughing it through, remember why you're doing it. In the end you'll get the respect you deserve from those
most important to get that respect from; your kids.

Peace

I agree with Kevinnius, the thing about society is the double standard we refuse to see.. it's always poor mother raising her child alone while the no-good father is nowhere to be found. We never see the single father who struggles to raise his child/children alone. The thing is that the men don't go out and want people to feel sorry for them, but I praise both single men and women who have the facilities to provide for their children alone. God Bless and Merry Christmas to you :)

I'm not too sure why this is but I think we should not only think about single mothers, fathers, grandparents but also single Aunts or Uncles that has stepped up to the plate & became single parents for the ones that can't or wont be there for their children.

There are far fewer single fathers than there are single mothers. Single fathers are too busy to inform the world on how difficult their life is. Its a quality known as fortitude.

Single fathers do exist. They are rare, and the ones that I know are wonderful, but they are getting help more so then single women, so it doesn't seem as much of a struggle. They get more help from their mom, neighbors, friends, and sisters. It is like since they aren't the ones who carried the baby for nine months they know nothing about raising them.

Male in nature are stronger emotionally and they don't voice out their difficulties to anyone easily.
