I think it's because babies of course are so cute and innocent. They really don't know right from wrong and they don't know anything about the world yet. I know when I've had a bad day at work and I come home and my fifteen month old is going "mommy mommy mommy" then I light right up. He makes my day so much better. And when you're a parent, when they cry you cry, so if you ever plan on having kids get ready for some emotions you didn't know were there.

We should smile at are babies to show them are emotions you have to let a baby know your comfortable because baby react to their mother emotions. If you cry a baby can feel your emotion.
When you smile a bay know your happy.

i believe we smile at babies because the fact they're only babies once and the fact we used to be at that stage too...babies seem to have that gift...like when even though your having a bad and you seem them smiling at you all you can do is smile back...babies are truelly a blessing

I think it comes just naturally... you see a baby and next thing your are smiling! They are so damn cute!

Because we perceive human babies as being "cute" and that is what nature intends or else we would bash all their heads into trees when they started crying or messed their diapers.

speak for yourself, a large part of the population (not me but i know alot of ppl) hates babies. have you ever heard the joke "What's the difference between a Lamborghini and 100 dead babies? I don't have a lamborghini in my garage." theres tons of this stuff out there. but for those of us who dont hate babies, there cute so there you go.
