Because it sounds like you recently got your guinea pig, it would be useful for you to check how old (or young) the guinea pig is. If the guinea pig is young, he is probably just testing his limits with the surrounding area. If you handle him enough, he'll learn that people aren't food!

A great site to check out for this situation is http://www.cavyspirit.com/biting.htm. This link was sent to me by a breeder when I had the same problem with my guinea pig.

Good luck!

You may want to try feeding him by hand. Next time you hold him have a long carrot in your hand. For my guinea pig i bought these would blocks for her to chew on and they are naturally fruit flavored. There is a stick that comes with it and it looks like a hanging kabob. I put fruit in between them to get her to bite on them. She has done so much better with these. Before I had those she would always bite on the wires of her cage. Your guinea pig probably feels some discomfort with his teeth growing so long and he is just trying to cut them down. Guniea pig's teeth are always growing. They aren't very mean animals. So I doubt he is trying to hurt you.

Guinea pigs are like all rodents, their teeth keep growing. They chew and bite things to file down teeth before they get too long. If teeth get too long they can't eat and die. Feed it raw spaghetti at least once a day, that should help. It could also have been weaned too early, but doubtful.

Thats just what they do. They chew things. Go back to the pet store and buy him some chew sticks. They're just little sticks of wood that come in a big pack. It'll keep him occupied.
