I tried to take that route was encouraged not to. So i went to my local community college and got infromation on the ged. I studied for it then went in and took the pre ged. Then after that i took the real ged. After that you get your ged diploma. And can continue on to community college if you like. That's what i did there is also a high school diploma program at most community colleges to i suggest going to them and getting infromation. When i went back to school i heard alot of bad stories about the online programs. Some did it and never heard back after completing there classes and waitng for there diploma. Good luck with your search i just got my ged and am very content with it. Im planning on going to college next semester.

Yes, you definitely can. But the cost for a diploma may be high. There are diploma/high school programs available through computer or mail, known either as independent study or continuing education. These programs let you have the opportunity to earn your diploma (not GED) via by correspondence or internet.
If you choose to do this, you should go for the more reputable colleges that offer these programs. Most known ones are the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Brighman Young University, or the Louisiana State University.
However, if you chose to go for other programs, you must make sure that the program is accredited. This way, you can pretty much be certain most universities/colleges accept the high school credits and diploma. But before enrolling or such, you should call to your interested college/uni and ask them whether the credits from this specific online school/program will be accepted or transferable.
Learn more about the accreditation and independent studying at the links below.
Hope this is pretty useful.
