I will be as forward to this answer as I possibly can.
I believe God is an adults Santa Claus, if you will. He keeps most of us in the right, so if we do not follow the commandments we will go to hell. Hear me out, I do believe in something big, bigger than us. I bet you that the stories in the Bible aren't even what they were when they were written within 2000 years or so.
