The founding fathers were Christians but also were intellectually enlightened. The majority of the writers of our constitution were members of the order of Masons. Masonry was founded in the middle ages as a cover/hidden group to disguise them from the Catholic Inquisition. Their disguise was the guild of brick/stone layers like a union is today. It incorporates many eastern mystical
philosophies. Think the mysticism aspects has been forgotten
over time and the Masons of today just practice the rituals

Just like today there were conservatives and liberals which counteracted and tempered the document. They had one common thread which was the fear and hatred of monarchs/kings/ dictators common in Europe at the time and the lack of civil liberties.

Their insights were incredible and the constitution that they wrote still applies to our government and society today. It should be read literally and taken as to what it says. The modern concept that it is a living document and needs to be upgraded occasionally is nuts. Those who interpret it (Supreme court) are only trying to adjust it to their own beliefs, politics and behavior.

It is a foundation upon which our society is built upon. Any effort to change or modify it is to corode this foundation. Water it down
and eventually this foundation will collapse

The structure of the Federal Government is based on the pagan Roman Republic, and the ideas for declaring independence come from the political philosophy of John Locke. The constitution also borrows from British common law, the Magna Carta, etc.

The most important founding fathers were not "god fearing men" as revisionist fundamentalists would have you believe but Deists and Unitarians

Even though the majority of the founding fathers where of the Christian faith, they worded the Declaration of Independence so that it would not mandate their religious beliefs on anyone. Other than atheist every other religion I am aware off believes in a supreme being as "Our Creator."
These men where truly Statesmen, unlike many of the Politicians who are elected today. They where not looking for glory, or riches. The only agenda they had was in forming a more perfect union, of the people for the people.

We were founded by people who wanted religious freedom. They just happened to be followers of a JC based faith. The founding fathers know what a mess having an official state religion was so that is why the purposely wrote that Congress shall not make any laws affecting religious worship.

It was founded on the principle individual freedom, and that people have certain rights endowed by their Creator the government cannot take away. Limited government, and that it is the duty of the government to preserve these rights.

Hmmm...Locke, Mill, and a wee dash of Hobbes (unitary executive!). Add some Jean-Jacques and some Blackstone and...poof...Greatest Nation on Earth.

Oh yeah, and Native American/African American blood. Lots and lots of it.
