What appears to be jet black hair on closer analysis is actually very very dark brown.

What we Americans would think of as dark chocolate brown hair is also prevalent in Japan - it is not rare at all.

Of course, there has been some intermarriage with lighter haired people, but not that much.

A lot of young Japanese streak their hair with all shades of color.

every japanese person i c has dark brown hair so...not that rare..
