Most old rotaries are so clapped out there is little that is re-usable. On average you need 4-5 used engines to get one rebuilt one.

As marketing says, there are fewer parts in a rotary engine than in a reciprocating engine. I rebuilt a 13B in my engine class while attending auto classes at my community college. It was definitely easier than a piston engine, especially no valve train. There was a special engine bench mount (that the welding class fabricated for me) necessary. I simply replaced the rotor housings. For any machining, make sure to find a shop that has done rotary engine work in the past. Some parts of a rotary engine need special finishing. I am neither a mechanic nor an engineer - so it can be done! I drag raced my RX4 for two years with that engine. Best wishes!

Don't even try. Rotary engines are very difficult to get the rotor to seal right on a rebuild.

You're far better off to buy a new short block and add yor accessories.

rotary engines are cheaper to buy new than to try and rebuild
