This is not true at all!
water ruins gasoline... Water and gas cannot mix together! However, most gas has a percentage of alcohol mixed with it. Water can and will attach to the alcohol, then it is suspended within the gas. If it makes it thru the filters that are under the dispenser and into your auto, it will then cause the engine to NOT fire a spark....
Most gas stations make a very very small profit margin on the gas that is sold.(2%-5%) They make their money selling you that Mt. Dew and a pack of smokes! So i guess you could say, "big nice store, cheep gas!"
Look at companies like Speedway, Thornton's, Sheetz, Pilot....
They all have real nice stores and usually have the cheapest gas. Your lured in by the gas, and the scammed on that candy bar, or hot dog at a 250% mark-up
Its what makes the world go round!

They may not deliberately put water in their fuel, but it can happen. A few years ago, after the transporter refilled a shell station near my job, the driver didn't put the caps on the tank correctly and the melting snow and water FLOWED into the tanks. In under an hour, we had 23 cars and trucks towed into our shop not running. They paid for all repairs through their insurance. This was an extreme example, but cars can run with just drops of water. It will not hurt them and you will not notice. But more than a cup in your tank can shut you down. Water will not mix with fuel. the gas will float, and you pump will only pump water, shutting you down!

Never heard of Sheetz gasoline(at least not here in CA), but there was a gasoline company named Lerner that ALWAYS put sugar in their underground tanks and got in trouble w/ the CA Attorney General in the early 1980s...it cost $1,000 to put in a new fuel tank for our '77 Chevy Nova because of this...

it relatively is surely unlawful for a station to place something in there gasoline intentionally. in the event that they sell you a gallon of gasoline even nonetheless it relatively is particularly 9/10 gasoline and a million/10 water, they only committed fraud. verify the tag on the pump for the state company that certifies the pumps, they might have each and all of the information you like. even nonetheless, water does sometimes get in there by making use of twist of destiny, and in case you are able to tutor that distinctive stations' gasoline broken your automobile, they are meant to pay the maintenance. in spite of everything, in case you acquire watery gasoline, so did different individuals, extra will ***** than you.

Similar rumors have circulated for decades about low cost providers, but the reality is that the liability costs would far exceed any profits they would realize. It's just another urban legend...
