well, depends what kind of talents. I inherited artistic talents from my grandma, but I'm good with computers. I couldn't really inherit genes for a computer, so I adapted i guess. Adaption might be a reason for things like that, just like inheritance.

I believe in both.
People born with certain talents, it is all about genetics. What traits are passed from their parents to the offsprings. Some people are able to use both hands in writing or photographic memories.
But alot people can aquire talents. Think about it. Playing a piano. Some people are gifted but it takes lessons and time to achieve such a talent.
It is how you see things. We all have natural talents, it is how we use them or what is influenced by them that make a difference.

This question 'looks' like an opinion.. yes agreed, it is so because, we see varieties of both.... born with and acquired... by why use this logical mind and attempt to dissect, divide what can be viewed in totality ? Somethings of beauty have to be appreciated in totality, like a beautiful landscape of mountains, rivers etc.. Just take a small rock or stone, and we miss the grandeur !
Talent is some kind of expertise at doing things with a seemingly effort less ease... The requirements are the ability, flexibility, focus, intensity, liking , etc etc... some of these qualities come with birth, and the situation has to pamper the growth , nourish the enrichment, of some qualities. Appreciation, sponsoring is the pampering... hence the total view..

Some things yes, and some things no. For example, you aren't exactly born with the ability to play the guitar...it is something you acquire. However, you are usually born with the talent to sing. But then you may be born with just a smidgen of talent (like writing or drawing) and through out the years you practice it and become better......

I guess some of us are born with talents, but what's the use when these talents are not discovered and put to use. Wasted talents then. On the other hand, I believed talents can be acquired. So long as there's passion for the subject concerned, with enough practice to make it better and better, it becomes your talent. My opinion.

Talents are inexistant, if someone is good at something, they just had a past experience that influenced that skill. Nobody is born singing or skateboarding they just put themselves to it and become successful at it. Sure, there are some physical traits that can help a skill, but skill is developed, not unleashed over a period of time (that would be potential).

Both, many people can just pick up an instrument and play really well, while other must learn.....Also if one is born into a talented family it is pretty obvious that they too will pick up some talent by growing up in such a way

some talents are there at birth, waiting to be developed for sure. But I know you can learn to be skilled at many things in life. You expand your mind, and thus expand the talents you have aquired.

Well, by definition, talent is something that you are born with. A talent that you develop later in life is called a skill.

Talent is something people are born with.
Nothing significant will come out of someone who simply has not got the potential.
