We had one at work do the same thing. It would download the SP2 just fine, then during installation, it would get to maybe 40 percent then error.

We ended up having to uninstall all nonessential software, then reinstall Windows w/SP1 original CD, then install the drivers and other software, then SP2, and finally the nonessential software.

probably because you do not have administrative rights ad your Tech guys have not found you or your company workplace worthy of the upgrade...that is assuming you have IT guys...

if it is a small business and you have admin rights to your network ( or dare I say 'single' desktop), then you do not have all the required updates...you need to go to microsoft update and make sure you have all your computer's (or server's) criticle upgrades are up to date before SP2 will run.

BTW...when installing SP@ do not turn off the computer until it prompts you....you will lose you operating system if you shut down prior.

What kind of errors? Did you try scanning for malware like adware and viruses? Do a thorough clean up of your system and try again.
