My doctor put me on weight loss pills, and it took me forever to finally lose 10 pounds, and I've got a long way to go. But I just started a new relationship and I think I need to be on birth control, is there anything I could do/take that wouldnt jepordize my weight loss?

Anything with hormones in it is going to cause your appetite to increase. You could use a diaphragm. There is also a new type of BC that is called the NuvaRing. I don't know too much about it other than it has small doses of hormones. You might want to ask your doctor about it. I do know however that the diaphragm has no hormones in it. It is a little awkward to use. Congrats on the weight loss.

The weight gain produced by birth control is just due to water retention. But, guess what; medicine has evolved believe it or not.

The birth control pill I use (available In my country, which is a third world country so there must be something better in yours), helps with acne and reduces water retention causing weight loss among other stuff that I don't rememeber now.

There are tons of varieties of birth control pills, ask for your gyno to give you one that meets your needs.

The only hormonal contraceptive that is proven to cause weight gain is the Depo-Provera shot. All other hormonal contraceptives are not proven to cause weight gain. What they can do is increase your appetite, but that doesn't mean you have to eat more!

The myth that 'the pill' causes weight gain stems from older pills as well as the fact that all women gain weight during and at the end of puberty. This is typically when women start using 'the pill' and so women blame the weight gain on 'the pill' instead of puberty and eating habits.

Going on the pill will not jeopordize your weight loss.

I was on the pill and it didn't make me gain weight. Now I'm on the nuva ring and it hasn't made me gain weight either. I think it just depends on your body.
