the reason it is 42 (according to "hitchhickers guide to the galixy" and "Restraunt at the end of the universe") is because the ultimate question is "what do you get when you take six by nine?". so now your thinking wait, 6x9=54 not 42. this suggests that either the ultimate awnser or the ultimate question is wrong, because if you knew both the universe would end

A movie came out called "The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" and in the end, after a computer's years of pondering, the meaning to all life was apparently "42" (played for laughs)

They are fans of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
In that book - a fantastic SciFi parody by Douglas Adams - there is a race of super beings that creates a SUPER Supercomputer to Determine "The Answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything." After running its program...7 1/2 MILLION years of computation...its answer was (you guessed it!) "42."
Deep, huh?
