I live in LA, so I can give you some good advise...
1) Yes, take acting classes. Private, High School. College- whatever...so you can get used to working with people, taking direction and memorizing scripts.
2) If you want to do TV, Movies and Commercials- take an on camera class.
3) If you get flustered by only getting a few minutes to look over lines at an audition- take a cold reading class.
4) If you go see an agent and they want money up front for pictures or to "work" you= say no thank you and walk away. A real agent doesn't take money from you until you earn it by landing a roll.
5) You don't need a Manager until you get famous.
6) You do need Headshots so that casting agents can see what you look like. If you want to save money, get a photography student to do them for you. Then take the proof to Kinkos or print them yourself.
7) If you can't afford classes and want to study on your own- buy some scripts online or go to the library and check out some plays. Practice learning the lines yourself.

Well its the most reasonable thing to do and it would be what you would fall back on if thing don't work out in the beginning, but sometimeds all you need is luck and honest to god talent. So if u want adivce id say go to and study it, but also go to as many auditions as possible.

that would be the ideal theory, however, now a days, anyone who's pretty enough can get some kind of job. i think you should go to acting school, and study it a little. it might be harder, but the harder the obstacles, the greater the goal.
