Get your receipt, and take it and the shirt back to the store for a smaller size...:)

Why not take it back to the store you purchased the shirt and exchange it for the proper size?

There is no guarantee it will shrink if you wash it in hot water and dry it in a hot dryer. Today's fabrics are not like they used to be... they are now made to have minimal shrinkage.

I would take it back and get the correct size. Dress shirts should ALWAYS fit correctly.

example-- 16/33-34 is neck mesurement/sleeve length

to meausre your neck, have someone measure around the thickest part of your neck, where your collar would go. Put a finger in there to add a bit of extra for room to move.

To measure sleeve length, have someone measure from the middle of the back of your neck, over your shoulders, over your elbow, and down to about a 3/4 inch past your wrist. Keep your hand rested casually on your hip as you measure.

Rinse it in hot water and throw it in the dryer, heat shrinks material. Just be careful not to turn the dryer on too hot if the shirt is delicate. Hope I helped!

You can dry it for a longer period of time, but beware, it will only shrink in length. The arms will also shrink by doing this. If it is too baggy, there is no way to shrink it down.

depends on the fabric. it may not shrink in the dryer. best bet would be exchange it for the correct size. or gain weight. if you cant take it back try washing and drying it.

placed on some attractive leggings and tie a headscarf around it or a belt. Or unbutton it and tie it up like Daisy Duke...that became a shaggy dog tale. Unbutton it and tie a knot in each and each end and placed on a pretty camisole below and slacks.

that depends on the fabric. My advice is to get it altered by a dry cleaner, they do a good job and they are a lot less expensive than a tailor.
