You can't know for sure if it's broken, or if you'll never hear from the seller again after you pay, or if lots of other problems are in store for you. HOWEVER, you have the best chance of avoiding these issues if you look at the seller's rating before you bid. At the top right of the item's page, look for the "Meet the Seller" section. Below that heading is the seller's feedback percentage - look for 97% or above. Below that is the "Read feedback comments" link - read that before bidding. If the comments aren't overwhelmingly positive, don't bid.

Also be sure to read the entire item page very carefully - if the item is broken, any good seller will state that on the page (but not necessarily blatantly). I've bought about 30 things over eBay in the last few years and have only ever had 1 bad seller experience. Most sellers are genuinely good people who most of all want good feedback from you after you receive the item.

There is no sure way of telling except if the seller indicates the sale is "as is" or good for parts.

You can check the sellers's history. If u should encounter a problem ebay can help resolve the issue.

Hope this helps.

You can ask the seller BEFORE bidding. The condition of the item is supposed to be in the description, but if it's not, you MUST ask the seller beforehand. If it's listed in a certain condition and it arrives to you not in that condition, you can contact the seller or file an "Significantly Not As Described (SNAD) report and can get a refund or replacement.

Not really that is why you should ask questions, especially about
returning item & shipping cost if U must do so. Also it is a good
idea to wait and keep hunting for a like new, still in orignal package item that may only have been used one time.

No, caveat emptor

How would eBay know anyway? It's not like they review these things
