Body is mostly water as the first answer says. Also, it the universal body solvent and your body needs it to digest food. This why a big meal makes you very thirsty, your body needs the water.

other answers are true, temperature regulation, chemical actions, etc, and you can add that its a transport mechanism for vital substances in the body, its a major part of blood system transporting blood cells that bring oxygen to all the cells and transport away CO2, blood wouldn't be fluid without water.
Also, its a major component to mucous, which helps filter out dust and pollen and pollution from lungs and trachea,
Also a major part of saliva lubricating food being eaten so it gets through digestion without getting stuck

Water is a universal solvent... That is why most of the chemical reactions can occur in water. Not many things can react in oil or other type of fluid.

you will die if your body does not receive water. Seriously alot of toxins are allowed to linger in your body and your waste has a strong odor which is not normal.
