I was putting together my studio, I just bought a room for rent and all I have is a $599 microphone.
What other equipment I need. Or put it this way, if I wanted YOU the sound engineer to work for me in my studio, what equipment would you need, before you can work.
Can you give me the names of the equipment or maybe websites so I can order them.
Thanks so much (If someone gives me the answer that I was looking for, and I check things out and you were correct, I'll give you best answer and email you so I can get your P.O.Box, I'll send $50 by mail .. for your help, you don't know how much you've helped me.

Wow... the answer depends on just how fancy you want to get. What exactly do you want to do? Do you want to do multi-track recording? Do you want record bands live in your studio?
For sure you will need a mike stand and an XLR cord long enough to reach the mixer board, computer inputs, etc. I strongly recommend a tube compressor, but they can range in price from $150 to $4,000! The ratings for them are on the net. You can get a great one for about $1,000. You should also have a "P-pop B-blast" screen - it looks like a flat sieve that fits in front of the microphone. If the mike is a condenser mike, you will need batteries for the mike, or you will need to have phantom power for it. You will need to place the mike at the appropriate place for whatever you are using it for, and if you need more mikes, you will have to get them... and cords... and stands... for every one of them. The mikes are not all meant for the same job, so you might need a variety of microphones - some for vocals, some for drums, one for bass drum, bass guitar amplifiers, one for guitar amplifiers, and the vocal mikes are highly dependent on the characteristics of the singers voice and the desires of the singer or singers. You will need a computer with recording software and a great soundcard or some kind of recording device, and probably some sort of interface between the mixer and the computer. You will need to study how to do this, attend clinics on how to do it better, study techniques on the internet so you can always improve on it, and experiment while you are doing it to see what works the best. And with all of what I've just said, I've just scratched the surface. You will also want some kind of effects processor, or it could be in the recording software. Record "flat" and add equalization later. Want more info? Contact me, and thanks for offering us $50 - that's pretty cool.

I am not trying to be difficult, but your question requires some clarification. If you are having Van Halen over to record their next album, or if you are going to be doing Radio Commercials, or if you are just recording you and your buddies... These will greatly influence your buying decisions. The other thing that will influence this is your budget.
I really want the $50 but in reality your question cannot be answered here given the input that you have provided.
Head over to: http://www.homerecording.org/bbs/ and do a search on "setting up new studio" or "getting started" or "what to buy"
You should get some decent answers. Here is a decent thread: http://www.homerecording.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=223792
Also hunt around in the NEWBIES section.
You can also get some decent info here:
www.homerecording.com
www.recording.org
Hunt around and you will find piles of info.
If you are just looking for a good starting point for some personal recordings I can recommend that you buy a nice PC (set up for audio), a copy of either Sonar or Cubase a FW800 input card, an RME Fireface 800, some Event 20/20 monitors, a mic cable and mic stand and pop filter, and start recording.
If you want to do it all inside a computer I would suggest calling the guys here. They helped me get started. http://www.adkproaudio.com/
Good luck.

You need a digital mixer. One by Yamaha is good. You also need a kick a*ss Mac with Pro Tools loaded on it. Get a good MIDI controller too. Roland keyboards have always had a place in my heart. Hook the mic up to your mixer and hook the mixer up to your Pro Tools. Hook up your MIDI controller to your Mac as well.
With that set up, you can pretty much do anything. Just get a bunch of plug ins for Pro Tools and do all of the processing digitally. Get a good compression, EQ, reverb, and mastering plug in, at the very least.
MIDI VST Instruments are also good to have. Spectrasonics has great products.
After that, all you need is a good engineer who knows what he's doing. I've seen engineers with million dollar studios who couldn't produce a note, and I've seen an engineer with just a laptop who could make magic out of nothing.
Some more mics would be nice too. Mics that capture low end frequencies for bass and kick drums, Neumann mics for vocals, and a bunch of specific condenser mics for specific instruments.
Once you get the mics, you should probably put up isolation booths to record separated individual tracks at the same time without any bleeding.

I have a recording studio. Well, a good affordable Behringer mixer with a build in effects processor( must have this for the analog sound to help out the digital drop in sound and great pre amps) Recording software = Pro tools or Sonar $300.00 to $600.00. What ever your budget is. The Ultra - Graph pro dual 31 eq is a must for any mixing job($150.00.) Monitors Event 20/20 $300.00.
Ask about the easy payment plan with credit or debit monthly payments for three months. =

The development of a civilization isn't close to technological know-how, despite the fact that the muslims had been pioneers in arithmetic, treatment, botany, geography, astronomy and many others. The first universities on the earth had been within the Islamic global. The development, is the morals that you just comply with. On the Day of Judgment, Allah may not be inspired best with the velcro you could have invented, however via the way you cared for you brother and your tasks toward the leisure of humanity.
