All you did is manually put it in 2nd gear. There is nothing wrong with that form a dead stop. Some time it is a good thing like on the ice. The "L" is for 1st gear and the "2" is for second gear. When you have the shifter in one of theses gears it will not shift buy it's self you will have to shift it manually or you could cause damage if the R.P.Ms get to high.

All that means is that you had the transmission so it wouldnt shift out of 2nd. How fast were you going and did you happen to notice what the Tach said? It depends on how long you did it you may have fried the plugs... If it still runs good than I wouldnt worry about it just try not to do it again because it can be hard on the engine running at that high of RPM's without a real load.

If its an automatic you should put it in drive before you move unless you are climbing a very steep hill. Thats the reason you have an automatic so it can do the shifting for you from drive.

Thats a funny one, you must not have a tachometer.... If this is a common thing for you, let me be the one who tells you to get ANY tachometer installed in your plain veiw of the speedometer with a big red light that flashes when you hit 5000 rpms

It means it (trans) was running in 2nd. NO biggie.....unless you were doing 90mph. Just click it up into "D" and keep going.
