Don't worry!!! A fake tan does not last forever!!! Same, I've tried all the fake tans on the market (St. Tropez, Fake Bake, Neutrogena, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Bobbi Brown, etc...) but the one I always come back to is L'Oreal Sublime Bronze in Light/Medium (it comes in a yellow bottle with an orange top) You can get it at a drugstore for about less than $10. Anyways, make sure to exfoliate right before, and apply a THIN layer (not too thick or else it will look orange) and re-apply straight for about 4 days (you can control the color and decide for yourself) each night or each morning (once a day is enough). Make sure to wash your face with a cleanser that does not contain any AHA (salicylic acid, etc..) so that you don't exfoliate your tan (Eucerin Redness Relife cleanser or Cetaphil Sensitive Skin cleanser both do not contain these AHA's)
Also, when you apply your sunless tanner, you don't even need to apply it to your eyelids (just around your eyes) And then, after the 4 days of self-tanning, apply a great bronzer (I LOVE Hoola Bronzer at Sephora or Macy's) and finish off with some red blush for a sun-kissed sunburned look (which looks much more natural just to your cheeks not your nose or forehead or else that will look weird)

As a fellow pale skinned person, I don't recommend using fake tanning products. However Jergens Natural Glow does add some health to your skin and they make it for fair tones too.
And to the person above, going to the beach is not good because of UV rays and fair skinned people burn and freckle and we don't like freckles.

Choose your sunless tanner. Lotions are better than sprays or mousses, which are very difficult to apply evenly. Coppertone and Neutrogena both make excellent sunless tanner lotions.
Prep Your Skin: Start with clean, exfoliated skin. Use a cotton washcloth or an exfoliating body scrub to give skin a smooth and even surface. (Exfoliaters work by getting rid of dead surface skin). Pay close attention to elbows, knees, feet, and other areas where dead skin can build up.
Time It Right: If you shave your legs, don't shave immediately before applying a sunless tanner. This can cause irritation.
Soften Up: Apply a moisturizing lotion or baby oil to areas you don't want to get too dark, like feet, wrists, elbows and knees, before you apply a sunless tanner.
Take Your Time: Apply your sunless tanning product to one area of your body at a time, working quickly but thoroughly. Gently rub in the lotion, using an overlapping circular motion rather than an up and down motion. Jellybean recommends starting with your legs, moving to your arms, on to your torso, and then finishing up with your face.
Careful Does It!: Be careful around your hairline and eyebrows to avoid getting tanner on them. Hair shouldn't tan.
Product Pointer: You don't need to buy a special lotion "for the face." Just apply a regular moisturizing cream to your face 10 minutes before you apply the self-tanner there, and your tanner will If you are applying a sunless tanner to your face and neck that is not a "for the face" type, apply regular lotion to your face and neck first, letting it soak in for ten minutes.
Clean Up: Wash your hands with soap and warm water at least every five minutes while applying, to prevent palms and nails from tanning (they don't tan naturally, so it's a giveaway your tan is fake). Use a soapy nailbrush to scrub palms, fingers, and fingernails. Or clean the palms of your hands afterwards with Baby Wipes or a similar product like Wet Ones.
Drying Time: For the best color results, allow 30-45 minutes of drying time before you get dressed (this also prevents staining your clothes). You should wait at least three hours before showering, bathing or swimming - otherwise your "tan" may end up with streaks.
Final Word: Don't forget, self-tanners do not contain sunscreen and they do not protect against sunburn. Having a fake tan won't protect you against sun damage either. Repeated sun exposure on unprotected skin can increase your risk of getting wrinkles, skin cancer and other harmful effects. So be smart, and wear sunscreen every day, even when you look tanned!
Hope I helped!!!

Haven't you heard pale skin is fashionable? If you really feel you want some colour, I would recommend the fake tan, it's the only way you can get some colour without exposure to harmful UVB/UVA rays that can cause skin cancer.

Well personally and remember this is just me, I don't really find fake tans attractive, they look kind of gross. People can just leave their skin tone be and it can look wonderful. Women who have fair skin can be just as beautiful as those who have darker chestnut or deep brown skin. Just be healthy and comfortable with yourself. I would avoid the fake tan though and suntanning really isn't good for you.

Are you asking if you should go to a tanning salon? then the answer is no! Not unless you want leather like skin. I have a friend who spends half her life tanning. SHe is younger than me but she looks old enough to be my mom, in fact people have asked if she's my mom (sucks to be her)
