We usually say, "from the eyes of a child, tourist, scientist, etc."
Or we might say, "a bird's eye view, a political view"

Metaphorically, we might say things like "the landscape of faith, a window to my heart, a doorway in my mind, etc."

If you use the adverbs "like or as" it is not technically a metaphor. Grammatically speaking, like and as structures are called similes.

Perception is a person's version of events and what they saw and took away from everything.
Perception is like spyware that watches everything but only sends certain information to its source.
Perception can mean a lot of things; whichever one works with what you're looking for is going to be the most helpful, but lots of different answers work.
