I would and have. There is always an animal hospital around me in my city.

I always have gardening gloves and extra old towels in my trunk just in case.

But of course how would you feel if you were on the side of the road injured would you want people walking or driving by and just leaving you there?

Hmmmm. I'd have to agree that wild animals can be tricky and dangerous. If the animal was beyond help, I'd probably try to run over it just to put it out of its misery (I'm not buying a gun to kill off roadside animals or whatever.)

But if I was reasonably sure I could help the animal, yeah, I'd help it out. I've picked up kittens, turtles, stuff like that. I figure that if I'm going to drive and see stuff that needs help, I'm shirking my duty if I just keep going and pawn the responsibility on somebody else (or nobody else--sometimes I drive some pretty desolate roads.) I feel it's my duty as a driver to help out animals who are hurt by vehicles.

You gotta use your judgment about these things.

Absolutely!!! I have stopped and helped numerous injured and lost animals over the years and have never regretted it. I always am reminded that I could be that animal at some point and I would want help.

Yes, a dog-took it to a vet, it died anyway.
Turtle, but was beyond help; eased it off the road.
And today saw a pigeon hit in front of me on the highway. I couldn't stop, so I just said a silent prayer that it didn't suffer.

Negative...You may end up getting hit by a car or truck. Not worth the risk.

Better to call the police, who will probably get an Animal Control unit to take care of the animal.

I HATE seeing that. I have stopped and and taken them to the vet. but the problem is I always end up shareing the cost with the vet. and she always get stuck with the animal. Have to be very careful though, dont want to get bit yourself.

I would evaluate the injury first. If the animal is near death, I would keep it warm and let it die.Otherwise, away to the vet we go. Have a nice Christmas.
