always come out on tuesdays? For example, movies in the theatres usually come out on fridays being that its the beginning of the weekend where everyone can take a night off to watch it sometime during the weekend right? makes sense.

But havent any of u guys noticed how whenever a new dvd comes out to stores on the commercials it always comes out on a tuesday of all days...why?

So they could have the catchy phrase "Tune in Tuesday." It would sound weird with any other day of the week. Plus, it's easier to remember when a new CD or DVD is coming out since they always come out on the same day.

"It’s a way to get people into stores in the middle of the week, when sales might be slow otherwise. And, the DVDs are not competing for consumer dollars with movies opening in theaters. That said, releasing home entertainment on Tuesday is a tradition going back to before DVDs, to the days of the record business. According to Sriraman, the Tuesday releases took advantage of the buzz around reports published in music-industry trades on Mondays. According to another observer, radio stations would change their playlists on Tuesday, so new music would be in stores as it was being heard on the radio. So, it’s less about DVDs than about habit."
