I'm guessing i'm about 4-5 weeks pregnant. I just took a pregnancy test and figured that's how far along I am from my fertility calender that i've been traking. I haven't been to the doctor yet. I am just really nervous about how stable the baby is this early. I work in baggage at the airport and I lift and deal with heavy bags all day long. Is that going to effect my baby? I am so nervous since this is my second pregnancy (first was a miscarrage at 6 weeks) Even when i'm in the vanpool on a bumpy road I feel like it's too much bouncing. I'm sure i'm just stressing since it's my "first". I'm also worried about the air qualitly where I work. It's ventilated, (in the baggage area) but tugs and cars drive around in that area all day long.
Any suggestions or comments about either or both of these?

I made an apointment and since I told them that I have had a miscarrage already she got me in next week. I am still really nervous since It was really painful physically and emotionally last time, but I know I should feel better after the apointment. As long as they tell me everything looks alright.
Thanks for your thoughts everyone!!

Hey, congratulations! Lfting during pregnancy wont harm your baby. Pregnant women are recommended to avoid heavy lifting because of the risk of injury to them, not their child. Your ligaments soften during pregnancy due to hormonal changes and this leaves you more open to injury. When you're lifting in work remember to stick to your health and safety instructions and try to remind yourself that you have to be a little more careful with your own body in case of injuries.
As for the air quality, try not to let that worry you too much for your baby either, again its your own health you have to look out for and I'm sure, although not the freshest of air, your lungs are used to dealing with it.
Make an appointment to see your primary carer for your pregnancy and allow them to give you a little extra attention to help you relax a little into this pregnancy and to help put your mind a little more at ease. Pregnancy is a worrying time for mums whether its your first or thousandth baby, it's perfectly natural to feel a degree of worry and very understandable with you already having miscarried and the time you lost your first approaching again in this pregnancy.
Try to relax a little and enjoy your pregnancy if you can and try to remember that it wasn't anything you did that caused your previous miscarriage. You're doing everything right this time too and should get some medical support to help rest your mind and keep a close eye on the developent of your new little bundle of love.
Congratulations again and good luck!
Happy holidays,
Karma.

Well make an appointment soon for the Dr! Get some prenatals....at this stage in pregnancy TRY TRY TRY not to lift anything!!! I believe it is anything over 20lbs is a no no. Also you may be at high risk because of the previous miscarriage. I too had a miscarriage and with this baby i am carrying now, i was told i was at a higher risk of miscarrying again. Do not worry to much though. Your DR. will explain exactly what is ok to do and not do. But get in right away. I am already 26 weeks with this pregnancy and the baby is kicking and looked great on the ultrasound and my previous pregnancy ended at 5 weeks. Just make sure you follow DRs orders exact. Explain to your work and see if maybe they can accomidate you somehow. Have someone else do the lifting, move you to somewhere where you wont have to lift....something to that effect. Let them know A.S.A.P and good luck to you. Im sure everything will go great for ya! Congrats!!

OK... I totally understand... I have a now 10 month old baby. I will tell you since you have had a miscarrage, PLEASE be careful, but don't necessarally worry about the lifting yet, only because your body is used to it at this time, by any means though, DO NOT lift anything over like 30 to 40 pounds. I will tell you I was sick everyday of my pregnancy until I hit 8 months, then I was fine, then in my 9th month, I was sick everyday again, it was a night mare, I will tell you, if you end up being one of the puking ones like me, the doctors told me no matter how bad you need to puke, hold your food for 15 minutes. AND GIRL>>>> I used to have a timer next to me so that I could puke, but remember, 15 minutes, and your baby gets all the nutrition that he or she needs.

if lifting and tugging are what you are use to then it is not that big of a deal .. i worked in a sheet metal plant with my daughter and it was over 100 in there always because of the ovens .. the dr told me not to do any excessive lifting but i could still do my job with no problems because thats what my body was use to. after 5 months i was not allowed to lift over 25 lbs

you should get to the doc asap. if you had a misscarriage you will be considered high risk and they will want to take extra care of you. in a normal pregnancy you shouldn't left more than 20lbs but some ppl don't slow down till the end it just depends on the pregnancy. just be sure to get into the docs so you can go over everything with them. good luck with everything and congrats.

ask to be moved to a less demanding position for the health of you and your baby. At least ask for a temporary move in position. I went through that when I was working with Alzheimer's patients while carrying my oldest son. It was challenging and dangerous, so I asked to have a temporary position change. My son turned 8 in Nov. Congratulations and Good luck!

You really should set an appt. and be seen immediatly! especially if your first was a miscarriage, if this is the condition you worked before thats probably the cause of your miscarriage! My aunt lost her baby early and it was from lifting the boxes and stuff at mc.donalds........Lifting anything heavy is not good at all for the baby, as far as ventalation goes as long as you dont feel light headed and dizzy or smell too much gas that part should be okay......hope this helps you!

You need to go to the dr and get a note for work stateing that you need to be moved to another job.. Yes the heavy lifting can cause you to lose this baby..Get the frist appt. that they have open and get the note for work so you don't chance anything happening to this baby....

Lifting is not generally a big issue, my sister lifted furniture the whole time she was pregnant, but since you already had a miscarriage you should see your doctor immediately.
