I always be sure to prepare for the exams etc, maybe sometimes overstudy. But what method do you use to avoid the anxiety?

One important thing is to get enough sleep the night before.
Another is to look at old quizzes and tests the teacher has given you, and get a sense of what might be asked.
If it's a final exam, the best thing to do (since you don't sound like a person who fails to work until the last minute) is figure out what grade you need on the final to pass the course. If you work consistently during the course, you'll probably find it's a pretty low grade, and you know you can do that. Once the fear of passing the course is removed, it's just a question of studying to see how much better you can do than just passing.

Remind yourself that the tests are not the end of the world . Everybody has different talents and some do well in one area , while others do well elsewhere.
If you have prepared, just realized the test is just a check, to see your general progress. They do NOT set your future in stone, nor totally determine your what your life will be. They are just guide indicators , do not make them more important than they really are.
Even the Bar exam for attorneys is usually failed and retaken.

just reasure yourself that you are prepared and that it is only a test and the test police won't come after you if you do badly.
