there are many reasons for them (i personally wear boxers). the keep you protected, warm, and even turn on the oppisite sex sometimes (like a girl wearing a thong) wow baby! defenitly love seeing them! besides neither sex wants a cold bottom, let a long it getting caught in the zipper, or rashed from rubbing your pants all day or even dirty...it aborbs sweat too ya know...if you don't wear some kind of undergarment, you have problems!...later.

Well, technically we dont "need" them. I, myself, enjoy going commando sometimes and letting it all slack and be free. It depends on the type of person you are. You might like it stuck between the bottomcheeks or maybe you like everything held in place or maybe you like it slacky and free. Underwear says a lot about personality. There is no true "purpose" but simply makes people feel better.

Although it does prevent your "stuff" from being scratched up against rough paints or getting caught in a zipper =P
