I've been keeping a cockroach for about 5 mos and he is the sweetest thing but last week my brother thought it'd be funny to rip off one of its legs. Anyone have experience with euthanizing a cockroach humanely other than the OBVIOUS?

Cockroaches do regrow their legs. However, if other circumstances make it imperative that you dispose of your pet, kerosene is nearly instantly lethal, to ants, at least. It might take a few seconds for a bigger bug.
Take some kerosene in an eyedropper, and drop it on his abdomen. Or put kerosene in a shallow dish and set him in it, so that the liquid covers his spiracles.
Nail-polish remover should do the trick, too. And there's always roach spray.
Freezing him would put him into hibernation right before he died.
However, the obvious method, though inconvenient if you want to keep the body, ought to be the most humane of all.

Frankly, I'm surprised that it has survived since last week with it's leg ripped off. In fact, I'm surprised it survived as a pet for 5 months. I really don't know much about cockroach euthanization. Maybe you could put it in a jar and throw in one of those cotton balls soaked in some kind of chemical, like they use on frogs before they dissect them.

Wow, that's messed up...

Uh, I think they might regrow legs! Spiders do...
You know it will be fine missing a leg, they can live 10 days without their head!
But, to answer the question:

put a nail polish remover soaked napkin in a container, followed by your little friend there. Cover the container, have the 21 gun salute while Taps plays in the background...

You can always resort to nuclear weapons, but if Home Depot is out of Uranium, then you can always freeze him. Then he just falls asleep and he can go the way of T1000.
Be-heading him won't work. They can live for a week without their head. So you can put away your plans for a guilliotene.

So put him in some sugar water and put him in your cryogenic chamber (freezer) and let him drift to where ever coakroaches go when/if they die

probably the best way would be chlorophorm in a jar. However, I don't know where you're gonna get chlorophorm. next best would be a pin through the head, like the scientists do

cockroaches have more legs than humans, he/she will be ok without the one leg.

Why would you even DO that? If it regrows legs, then maybe it would work, or else, if I were you...no.

You can't do it any other way,and what is humane about killing a living thing anyway?
