Oh, and they're europhiles too. Alot of the developing world looks to Europe as the model society, even though some problems in europe's system have surfaced.

Where is it proven. What is wrong with a country taxing companies that take there natural resourses then use that tax money to educate and doctor those that need it. The lives of most south americans especially the indiginous has been pretty impovished and not very social since the spanish took over some 500 years ago.
Combine that with military, goverment and economic agression the U.S. has imposed on these nations since WWII and you have a very oppressed 80% of the population down there. All made possibly because the leaders of these countries have proven corruptable.
Now the people are finnally getting treated fairly and you think they will end up poorer. Where do you get your information from??

Try reading 'Confessions of an Economic Hit Man' by John Perkins. It is about a man who spent almost 20 years putting south america in debt so American multi Natonals could exploit them.

If you take a look at ALL South American nations, be they capitalist or socialist, you will still see poverty. No matter what the economic system, poverty still exists. To understand this, one does need to go back into South America's history, and will not be answered by just looking at the current state of affairs today. Why are some Americans so poor when they live in one of the richest nations on Earth? Is there really a "socialism for the rich, and a free market for the poor?" Think about it.

Have you ever read a book about Chile, do you know what the Chicago Boy’s are, do you know who was in power when El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Peru were suffering from the worst economic and social conditions, have you read about the School of the Americas, have you read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man? Do not assume what a person tells you is true. Right now the country in Latin America that has the fastest growing GDP is a country run by a socialist, do you know the name of this country? You need to read about Latin America before you make suck sweeping generalizations.

There has been a lot more capitalism, and even fascism, in South America, than socialism, unfortunately.
Communism makes them poorer. Socialism may slow down the wealt gathering of the rich, but will certainly help the poor to improve their situation.

Which South Americans are you referring to? Most Socialists are either poor people that have been brainwashed to believe that their poverty is a result of the rich stealing all the wealth of their country or academics that have deluded themselves in to the same conclusions

Wealth distribution for most of us is as important as aggregate wealth. The fairness in the means to aquire wealth is the work of a decent society. If Bill Gates walked into a room with me, we would be on average billionaires.

Stupid is, as stupid does! But we have a political party right here in the good old USA that would like to push us in that direction. Be careful how you vote or you could wind up supporting someones family along with your own!
