Interracial Dating, Is there a double-standard?
I have a bone to pick!

Please feel free to answer my question. I am a black woman, with colombian and indian heritage, who dates mostly spanish, italian and other men than black. I own my own car, home, and I have my m.b.a. I'm in great shape, beautiful, long black hair (not weave). I have chosen to date outside of my race, but I never hear the end of it. At my work I get constant sneers and rude comments from black men, about how I am a sell-out. They even approach me, making comments like "You are a beautiful successful black woman, yet you choose to date outside of your race. Why?, they ask me. When I have gone out with my white or spanish boyfriend's in the past, there is alot of stares, comments, and many black men have tried to fight my ex's. I don't understand what the problem is. These same black men, could be with a white woman, or a spanish woman, yet they want to get upset with me or other successful beautiful black women

Yes there is a double standard and within each standard it doubles again and again. First and most of all, Black Men and Women of different age groups and of different economic levels view dating out of their race differently. Within those groups there are those that have experienced Racism to some degree but as a result of Education or the lack of, have chosen to view "Interracial Dating" as just dating or as seeing anyone, male or female as being a "Uncle Tom". The true problem is that within the "Black Race" whether it is African American, Latin, Italian or Asian (all can be traced back to Africa as a result of Slavery) in these modern times there has always been and still are the "dark skin vs light skin" war going on. Yes Virgina, there is a "Double Standard" and until we learn to make "Peace" with ourselves and within our "Race" there will always be a "Double Standard". This little bit of observation and not wisdom comes from a 61 year Black male born and raised in Harlem and educated at the University of Life and the Survival of the Fittest. Hold your head high and continue to march forward for you are a pioneer for "Lovers" everywhere. Bless you and your choice's

Lets look at the different races that you date. You date Spanish, and Italians these races both same to be really big on families. You are highly educated and probably want to start a family soon. You are looking for a mate that will stick aroung after the kids are born.

The black males may feel that the white man is trying to steal something from the black man again. The reality is the black family in america is becoming more of a rarity

Just like when white women date a successful black person , they say like oh here comes white girl stealing the few good brothers we got , or vice versa. You should be able to date whom ever when ever you want. I mean they make beautiful babies as well. I'm not mixed but i have notice alot of beautiful mix babies. Ignore them their being ignorant!!! good lluck with your future loves and merry christmas
