I had to visit the home of a colleague for work purposes. When I arrived he asked me to help him carry some files from his bedroom. He lives alone and his house is generally very tasteful. But he had a bed in the shape of a race car. He's 43. Is this normal?

It's inexplicable. He CAN afford a new bed, his income is close to six figures.
He's had at least two girlfriends in the past year.
He doesn't portray the LEAST impression that he's the type of man to sleep in a single bed shaped like a race car.

He doesn't have a son and never has.
The files were in there because he works from an office just off his room.
I went to his house because we were behind with the work and it was convenient.

I assume you are very young, with no sense of fun. Is there a paticular age that says that from now on you have to live your life as square and dreary as possible?

Why not ask him about the bed being in the shape of a race car?
My grandson has a bed the shape of a car and he's 7.

Well ok if a guy brought me upstairs and i saw a bed like that I possible would be kinda horrified - but having said that, theres no accounting for individual tastes and I guess he just likes it!!!
I mean he might see your normal shaped bed and consider it to be boring!!!!
Theres no way of distinguishing if its normal or not - each to their own in life!! xx

maybe hes just making up for the things his parents couldnt afford for him as a child, I got my best frined to buy me a dolls house for my birthday 2 years ago - I always wanted one as a child, but money was too tight, it was a proper wooden one, it never filled the gap my child hood poverty left - so i gave it to a littel girl whose famly where in the same financial boat I was as a child - and gave the child the toy, I miss my dolls house, but having it didnt make up for the past, I still look at dolls houses, its an itch that will never be satisfied, maybe hes the same with his car? But yeah - I do think hes odd

Sweetie pie, maybe this is why he lives alone. He's just a wee bit immature. I think he suffers from Peter Pan Syndrome. Keep being his friend and don't spread rumors about him at work, but tell him you have other plans if he ever asks you to a sleep over!

I just saw a tv show where missy elliott has a race car for a bed....
Why were the files in his bedroom? did you feel creeped out when you did this? or did he act weird? was he doing a test run with you? Why did you have to go to his home for work? It just screams weird.

It's not normal in the sense that most men don't have beds like that.
It is not serious evidence of mental illness.
I would interpret it as someone 'in touch' with their so called 'inner-child' or someone who does not real care much what others think or judge.

Silly idea perhaps, but as he lives in a house, are you sure this is the bedroom he uses. Is he a father who sometimes has his son to stay? I don't know, but perhaps people shouldn't be too quick jump to conclusions.

It's kinda weird, but since he lives alone I guess it's just a way to bring out his inner child. If he seems pretty normal other than that, he's probably not weird. Maybe it was given to him & he felt he had to use it. I have no freakin' idea~
