I want to get broadband internet on my laptop & pc. We have the one phone number but 2 connection points. is it possible to have one broadband account and use it for our laptop & pc and use the 2 connection points? Our flatmte will be moving out in 6 months with the laptop, so i think we will need two modems. is this correct?

You cannot use both phone connection points at the same time to connect to the internet, you could however use either of them at any time simply by moving the equipment.

The simplest way to connect both computers is to get a router, which most companies supply these days, connect the pc direct to it by cable.

You could then either use a second cable to connect the laptop, or connect the laptop wirelessly to the router.

If the laptop is fairly modern it may have wireless built in, if not you would need to by a wireless adaptor.

You can get Broadband internet in many forms... Cable, Satellite, DSL (phone), and others. If you go with DSL, then the phone company will give you a DSL modem that connects to the wall just like a phone would. Then you connect your computer to that modem and they can walk you through the setup based on whatever your phone company does.

You can get something called a router that can connect to the DSL modem and then you can usually connect up to 4 computers to the router via wired Ethernet and if you get a router that has WiFi and your computers have WiFi cards too, then you can connect dozens wirelessly to the router and it can manage all the connections to make sure they all have access to the internet.

You won't need 2 modems. In fact, that would cause problems. Ask your phone company to explain this to you.

If the laptop has a wireless card in it already the easiest way would be from the wall, put your DSL modem and then to a wireless router and wired in to your PC> The laptop uses the wireless.
