Flying into PHL and meeing a friend for breakfast. (Well, she is picking me up at airport, and we'll be driving to restaurant). Any great breakfast places near the airport? Casual, good food, good place to catch up. (So not Dennys, but not Le Bec Fin either!) I"m heading northwest of the airport after breakfast - so things that direction woudl be best. Thanks!

There's always the Oregon Avenue Diner in South Philly. It's right off of 95 near the Walt Whitman Bridge. Across the street is Tony Luke's, and they're supposed to have a mean breakfast sandwich, but it sounds like you want to sit down somewhere.

I think you can take 76 West from 95, and get to the Pennrose Diner, also in South Philly and just off of 76.

And of course, everybody who knows goes to Melrose, but I forget where that's at.

Unless you're willing to hit Center City, the majority of what you'll find is going to be diner food.

Edit: Don't know how well you or your friend know Philly, but there's a place in Northern Liberties called Honey's. They're on 4th and Brown, on the corner...it's a small place but they have incredible breakfasts. Very home-cooked tasting. You may want to double check if they're open or not, but I believe they will be. You can get off of 95 North at Callowhill Street, and head up to 5th Street. You'll have to dive all the way over from the left, so be careful...it's not usually too bad though. Once you get on 5th, go north towards Spring Garden Street. Cross over that and make you're way over to 4th & Brown...it's only about 3 blocks from 5th & Spring Garden. It's about a 10 mile drive away from the airport (North), but the entrances for both 76 West and 95 North/South are very close to Honey's if you decide to go there.
